Hmmmm... I've no idea how you can get such wonderful textures with pastel! wouldn't even know where to start... Simply beautiful!

Heh! Thanks so much!

Yeah, well I tend to not follow the rules for any particular medium and do some mixing of this and that to get my desired effect.

I actually used a combination of oil and chalky pastels, charcoal and pencil for this. (I know...nutty :crazy:) I did it in layers using a matte fixative over each layer. It's done on thick black paper but it almost didn't stand up to my layering! It's one of the first pastels I ever did about 15 years ago now...it's actually amazing that it turned out ok and not a blob of a mess. ;)
